Field mapping during transfer

Automatic field mapping occurs when you select and then click when using . The following table provides information about the logic behind automatic mapping. In addition to finding fields with the same names, the system also verifies that the data types match.

For example, using automatic mapping, if Epiq Discovery contains a field named "Title" of Short Text data type, our logic looks for a field named "Title" of FixedLength type in Relativity. If a match is found, it is automatically mapped when the data types map according to the following table.

In addition, the unique identifier for the document in Epiq Discovery, Document Number, always automatically maps to the Identifier field in Relativity, regardless of the field name.

Also, you can map Epiq Discovery Attachment Count to the Relativity Has Attachments field, which is boolean (Yes/No).

  • If Attachment Count is 0 in Epiq Discovery, then Has Attachments in Relativity shows No.

  • If Attachment Count is 1 or higher, then Has Attachments in Relativity shows Yes.

Epiq Discovery data type Relativity data type
Boolean Yes No or Fixed Length Text
Date Date or Fixed Length Text
Document Number (ID) Identifier

Float

Decimal or Fixed Length Text
Integer Whole Number, Decimal, or Fixed Length Text
Long Text Long Text
Short Text Epiq Discovery fields with Multiple Values enabled can map to Fixed Length Text, Long Text, or Multiple Choice.
Epiq Discovery single value fields can map to Fixed Length Text, Long Text, Multiple Choice, or Single Choice.
Text Long Text

Any Epiq Discovery data type that allows Multiple Values must map to a Relativity Multiple Choice field (except as noted for Short Text).
